Abstract

Concrete is a widely used construction material because it has good compressive strength, is economical, and is easy to shape. However, concrete still has weaknesses in the form of porosity which can reduce compressive strength. One effort to improve the quality of concrete is by using nano materials and chemical additives in the form of superplasticizers. This study aims to determine the effect of using Nano Portland Composite Cement (NPCC) as a partial replacement of Portland Composite Cement (PCC) and the addition of superplasticizers on the compressive strength of concrete with a design quality of f'c 25 MPa. In addition, this study also aims to obtain the most optimal mixture composition and evaluate the feasibility of its use in high-rise buildings. The research method was carried out experimentally using PCC Dynamix Extra Power cement which was ground into nano cement using a tumbler ball mill machine. Mixture variations consisted of replacing PCC cement with NPCC at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, as well as the use of superplasticizer at 0.9%. The test object was a concrete cylinder with a diameter of 15 cm and a height of 30 cm which was cured for 28 days. The expected results of this study are obtaining better NPCC characteristics compared to PCC, increasing the compressive strength of concrete due to the use of NPCC and superplasticizer, and obtaining an optimum mixture composition that meets the requirements of concrete for high-rise buildings. This research is expected to contribute to the development of concrete technology through the use of nano materials to produce concrete with better strength and performance.
