Abstract

Batik ArYu is a SME engaged in batik printing production that faces difficulties in achieving its production targets due to waste occuring on the production floor, resulting in delayed product delivery to cutomers. This study aims to identify the dominant types of waste, analyze their root causes, and propose improvement strategies using a Lean Manufacturing approach through Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT), and fishbone diagram for root cause analysis. The results identified three dominant types of waste, namely motion, over processing, and waiting, each with a weight 0f 21,82%. Process Activity Mapping (PAM) was selected as the most appropiate analysis tools with a score of 39%. Fishbone diagram analysis revealed that the root cause of waste originated from factors related to man, method, machine, and measurement. Based on these findings, several improvement proposals were developed, including replacing the fixture locking system with a head knob screw, implementing an adjustable work platform in the lorodan area, developing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the washing and lorodan processes, and applysing visual management through a digital timer and packaging information board. The proposed improvements are estimated to reduce the production cycle time by 25,11% from 3,66 days to 2,74 days, and all Non-Value Added (NVA) activities are eliminated.
