Abstract
This study aimed to (1) improve students' interest in learning mathematics through the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning model among second-grade students at State Elementary School 1 Sribit, and (2) improve their mathematics learning outcomes through the STAD cooperative learning model. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were nine second-grade students. Data were collected using triangulation techniques. The data were analyzed using descriptive comparative analysis by comparing students' test scores across the pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. The indicators of success were: (1) an increase in students' learning interest to at least 70%, and (2) an improvement in learning outcomes, with a minimum score of 70 (the minimum mastery criterion) achieved by at least 70% of the students. The findings showed that (1) students' learning interest increased in Cycle I and further improved to 88% in Cycle II, and (2) students' mathematics learning outcomes also improved in Cycle I and reached 88.8% in Cycle II.
