Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries with a high level of seismic activity due to its geological location at the convergence of three major tectonic plates. This condition necessitates the evaluation of existing buildings to ensure that their structural systems are capable of resisting earthquake loads in accordance with the required performance criteria. This study aims to evaluate the structural capacity curve, determine the performance point, assess the structural performance level, and examine the plastic hinge formation mechanism of the eight-story Faculty of Economics and Business Building at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The analysis was conducted using the nonlinear static analysis (pushover analysis) method based on the ATC-40 guidelines. The results indicate that the structure possesses sufficient capacity to withstand seismic loading in both the longitudinal and transverse directions. Based on the drift evaluation, the structural performance level is classified as Immediate Occupancy (IO), indicating that the building remains operational after the design earthquake with only limited structural damage. Furthermore, the distribution of plastic hinges demonstrates that the structural response follows the intended failure mechanism and has not reached the stage of overall structural failure.
