Abstract

UMKM SP Barokah Kusuma is a clay roof tile manufacturing business that continues to face high rates of defective products, resulting in reduced quality and lost sales. This study aims to analyze the causes of defects, defect rates, and production process stability using the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method, as well as to determine recommendations for improvement based on Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The research data covers the production period from October 2025 to April 2026. Statistical Quality Control analysis utilized histograms, p-charts, Pareto charts, and fishbone diagrams, while Failure Mode and Effects Analysis was used to prioritize failure causes based on Risk Priority Number (RPN) values. The results show that out of 154,807 roof tiles, there were 6,427 defective products, consisting of 4,306 broken tiles, 1,772 cracked tiles, and 349 burnt tiles, with broken tiles being the dominant type of defect. The analysis indicates that the production process is not yet statistically controlled. Based on the research results, the Statistical Quality Control and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis methods were able to identify the causes of defects and generate recommendations for improvements to minimize the defect rate and enhance the quality of roof tile products.
