Abstract

Batang District is an area within Batang Regency located along the northern coastal region. This district is classified as having a very high level of flood vulnerability, primarily because it lies on the northern coastal plain with very low topography. The high level of flood vulnerability in this area is also influenced by several factors, including high rainfall, flat slope conditions, low land elevation, soil types with low water absorption capacity, inappropriate land use, and high population density in Batang District.This study aims to determine the level of flood vulnerability and the distribution of flood-affected areas in Batang District. The sampling method used is secondary data analysis. Through this method, the data collection process utilizes existing data from institutions as well as journals, including parameters influencing flood occurrence, and applies Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results of the study indicate that the factors affecting flood vulnerability in Batang District include rainfall, land elevation, soil type, slope gradient, land use, and population density. These parameters are dominated by high scores, particularly in the range of 7 and 9. A total of nine villages/urban wards in Batang District are affected by flooding, namely Watesalit, Kasepuhan, North Karangasem, Proyonanggan Tengah, Kalipucang Wetan, Kalipucang Kulon, Denasri Kulon, and Klidang Lor. In total, 3,196 households, or approximately 12,784 people, were affected and had to be evacuated to safer locations. The areas most severely affected include North Karangasem, Klidang Lor, Watesalit, Kalipucang Wetan, and Kalipucang Kulon.
