Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the Tilawati method in improving Al-Qur’an reading proficiency among children aged 10-11 years at TPQ Masjid Baitul Izza Surakarta and identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence its implementation. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving TPQ administrators, teachers, and students. Data validity was strengthened through source, technique, and time triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the Tilawati method was implemented through structured, gradual, and repetitive learning by combining classical demonstration techniques and individual reading-listening activities. This implementation contributed to improvements in reading fluency, tajwid accuracy, makharijul huruf, learning discipline, and student motivation. However, the effectiveness of the method did not occur automatically. It was influenced by teacher consistency, media readiness, parental involvement, peer environment, and student attendance. The main obstacles included weak understanding of tajwid, limited concentration during reading-listening activities, and laziness or irregular attendance. This study confirms that the Tilawati method is effective when implemented consistently, adaptively, and supported by continuous evaluation.
