Abstract

Monitoring sensor conditions on industrial conveyor systems is generally only possible through a local Human Machine Interface (HMI) without the availability of historical data for long-term analysis purposes. This research designs and implements an industrial sensor data logging and acquisition system based on PLC OMRON CP1E integrated with a MySQL database and a real-time web dashboard. The system employs three types of sensors, namely Photoelectric Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and Limit Switch, installed at several points along the conveyor to sequentially detect the presence of objects. Sensor data is read by the PLC through a ladder program and subsequently transmitted to a computer using the Host Link protocol via an RS-232 interface. A Visual Basic .NET application supported by AdvancedHMI receives the data and stores it in a MySQL database. Historical data is accessed through a PHP-based Application Programming Interface (API) and displayed on a web dashboard using JavaScript and Chart.js. The dashboard provides monitoring information comprising sensor ON/OFF status, timestamp-based trend charts, cycle count, duty cycle, and sensor historical data. Test results indicate that the system successfully read the status of all three sensors with 100% accuracy, Host Link communication operated stably without data loss, and all monitoring features on the dashboard functioned as designed. The developed system is expected to enhance conveyor activity monitoring capability and facilitate historical analysis for industrial process evaluation.
