Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between self-compassion and social support with emotional reactions in ghosting victims among Generation Z. Ghosting is a behavior of suddenly stopping communication without explanation that can cause various psychological impacts on individuals. Participants in this study were 203 Generation Z individuals aged 17 to 25 years and had experienced ghosting in social and romantic relationships. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The data collection technique used three types of scales: a self-compassion scale, a social support scale, and an emotional reaction scale in the form of a Likert scale. The research sample was determined by purposive sampling technique and the data analysis technique used in this study was multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that self-compassion and social support simultaneously have a relationship with emotional reactions with a correlation coefficient of 41.39 and a significance value of 0.001 (p<0.05), which means the third hypothesis is accepted. Then partially, self-compassion has a negative relationship to emotional reactions with a correlation coefficient of -7.78 with a significance value of 0.001 (p<0.05), so the first hypothesis has a significant relationship. Social support has a negative relationship to emotional reactions with a correlation coefficient of -1.48 and a significance value of 0.001 (p<0.05), so the second hypothesis does not have a significant relationship. This study concludes that self-compassion plays a significant role in reducing emotional reactions in ghosting victims while social support does not have a partial effect but plays a role simultaneously, so the development of self-compassion and social support is important in improving individual psychological well-being.
