Abstract

The rapid advancement of automation technology has encouraged the adoption of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines as a solution to improve production efficiency and product quality, particularly in home industries engaged in foam manufacturing. This study aims to analyze the performance of a Bluetooth-based 2-Axis CNC Hot Wire machine for foam production in terms of dimensional accuracy, cutting quality, and control system effectiveness. The machine employs a GRBL-based controller with Bluetooth communication for transmitting G-code, NEMA 17 stepper motors to drive the X- and Y-axes, and a hot wire as the cutting element. The research methodology includes system design and calibration, Bluetooth connectivity testing, axis movement testing, cutting experiments on various foam objects, dimensional measurements using a digital caliper, and error analysis by comparing the designed dimensions with the actual cutting results. The experimental results demonstrate that the machine is capable of producing foam cuts with high precision. The average error values obtained were 0.370% on the X-axis and 0.322% on the Y-axis, indicating that the dimensional deviations remain within acceptable tolerance limits. Furthermore, the Bluetooth communication system and the GRBL-based controller operated reliably throughout the cutting process. Based on the performance analysis, the Bluetooth-based 2-Axis CNC Hot Wire machine improves production efficiency, produces more precise cutting results than conventional manual methods, and is suitable for supporting foam production in home industry applications.
