Abstract

Environmental issues in Sragen Regency have become increasingly complex due to population growth and expanding development activities. Water pollution, suboptimal waste management, and the gap between regulatory provisions and their implementation indicate the need to apply good governance principles in environmental management to ensure effective policies and the fulfillment of the public's right to a clean and healthy environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of good governance principles in environmental management in Sragen Regency and their influence on the fulfillment of the community's environmental rights. This research employed an empirical juridical method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the Environmental Agency of Sragen Regency and members of the community, while secondary data were collected from statutory regulations, books, and relevant scientific literature. The findings indicate that the implementation of good governance principles has not been fully optimized. This is reflected in limited public participation, insufficient transparency of environmental information, and the need to strengthen the accountability of local government. Waste management and pollution control also continue to face various challenges, reducing the effectiveness of environmental policies. The implementation of good governance principles influences the fulfillment of the community's right to a clean and healthy environment. Strengthening public participation, transparency, accountability, and consistent law enforcement is therefore essential to achieving sustainable environmental management.
