Abstract

Dependence on conventional electricity supply from PLN triggers risks of disrupted household activities, particularly in the kitchen area which requires a continuous energy supply to operate appliances such as rice cookers and cooker hoods. As an independent, reliable, and environmentally friendly electrical solution, this study aims to design and implement an Off-Grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) system to meet the energy needs of kitchen appliances, while establishing a real-time monitoring feature based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The research methodology was carried out systematically through the stages of literature study, hardware and software design, component assembly, and tool testing. The constructed system utilizes a single 160 Wp solar panel, a 25 A PowMr MPPT, two parallel NS70l 12V 70 Ah batteries, and a 800W Tafware Pure Sine Wave (PSW) inverter. The IoT-based system monitoring is controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller connected to the Blynk application via WiFi using PZEM-017 (DC) and PZEM-004T (AC) sensors. The three-day test results showed that the highest solar panel power reached 121.18 W under clear weather conditions at noon. In the AC load test, the system's peak power reached 400.77 W when both the cooker hood and rice cooker were turned on simultaneously. Testing of the IoT system proved that the monitoring features function normally and validly with a very low average sensor reading error rate against manual measuring instruments, ranging between 0.34% and 3.11%. Overall, this off-grid PLTS system is deemed reliable and capable of independently fulfilling the electrification needs of kitchen appliances, even possessing a surplus of energy for other kitchen electrical demands.
