Abstract
This research study aims to analyze the judges' legal considerations regarding domestic violence (DV) due to online gambling as grounds for divorce, based on three decisions of the Sekayu Religious Court. Online gambling is a form of behavior that not only causes economic losses but also leads to domestic violence, as well as ongoing disputes and arguments, ultimately leading to divorce. The results of this study indicate that in the three decisions analyzed, online gambling was not a stand-alone reason for divorce, but rather was linked to various domestic problems, such as domestic violence and ongoing disputes. The panel of judges concluded that the parties' marriage had broken down and there was no hope of reconciling. However, the judges' considerations focused more on the legal consequences of gambling on the integrity of the marriage than on the gambling itself. Therefore, the judges' legal considerations in divorce cases due to online gambling are based on the interconnectedness between online gambling, domestic violence, and the breakdown of the marriage, which results in the failure to achieve the goals of the marriage.
