Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crisis communication strategies of the Indonesia Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) and media framing in news coverage of the skincare case involving Nikita Mirzani and Dr. Reza Gladys. This research adopts a quantitative approach using content analysis of 23 online news articles and official BPOM. The results show that BPOM tends to employ defensive crisis response strategies, particularly denial, scapegoating, excuse, and justification. Meanwhile, media coverage is dominated by the frame of conflict and the frame of attribution responsibility. Furthermore, the chi-square test indicates that there is no significant difference among BPOM’s crisis response strategies, whereas the framing analysis reveals that media frames do not appear randomly but are concentrated on specific dominant frames, particularly conflict and attribution of responsibility.
