Abstract
The research aims to analyze how film media depicts women in the film Do Patti. This film is studied because it presents women as the center of the story, and also raises the issue of Indian culture which is still strongly patriarchal. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis which explains the signs of denotation, connotation, and myth. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation of scenes related to the representation of women. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the representation of women is in the film Do Patti. The results of this study indicate that the representation of women in the film Do Patti is divided into four categories, namely symbolic marginalization of professional women, women under social and patriarchal pressure, women's autonomous space, and women as agents of change. Women are depicted as still having a strong patriarchal culture, but on the other hand, this film also represents women as figures who try to dare to fight, be more empowered, and become agents of change for themselves and other women.
