Abstract

Moral decadence among students has become an increasingly prominent issue in the era of globalization, particularly within educational institutions. Rapid technological development, changes in social interaction patterns, and the weakening of family and environmental control have contributed to shifts in students’ moral attitudes and behaviors. This study aims to examine the forms of moral decadence among students, its impacts on behavior and social interaction, and the solutions implemented by the school in addressing moral decadence at SMP Muhammadiyah Al Kautsar PK Kartasura. This research employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of Islamic Education teachers, Guidance and Counseling teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings indicate that forms of moral decadence among students include a decline in politeness, discipline, and compliance with school regulations, as well as the emergence of deviant behaviors in social interactions. The impacts of moral decadence are reflected in changes in students’ attitudes, behavior, and social relationships with teachers and peers. The solutions implemented by the school include moral guidance through teacher role modeling, strengthening Islamic education, counseling services, collaboration with parents, and the habituation of religious and character-building activities within the school environment.
