Abstract

The high number of cases of violence against children and women in Karanganyar Regency prompted the local government to enact Local Regulation No. 20/2009 on the Protection of Women and Children. This study aims to analyze the role of DP3APPKB in preventing violence and the policy formulation developed in carrying out this role. This study is based on the concept of violence from a legal and sociological perspective, as well as previous studies that show a gap in research related to the implementation of local regulations and the operational role of DP3APPKB in prevention. This study is based on actual findings and uses a sociological perspective. Primary data was obtained from interviews with DP3APPKB staff, while secondary data was obtained from a review of local literature and relevant laws and regulations. Qualitative analysis was conducted on the data. The findings show that the DP3APPKB plays three main roles in promoting and enforcing regulations through initiatives such as the DRPPA and KLA. Limited resources and low public awareness continue to be challenges in policy implementation, even though these policies are supported by cross-sector collaboration and have a strong legal basis.
