Abstract
Breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women globally that largely influenced by low awareness and understanding of early detection. Breast Self-Examination (BSE) as a simple self-screening method can be introduced during adolescence as an initial preventive measure. This study examined the relationship between knowledge level and lifestyle factors with BSE behavior among tenth-grade female students at SMAN 2 Ngawi using an analytic observational cross-sectional design. From a total population of 267 students, the sample was selected through a sampling quota of 108 respondents. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate methods using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level. Most respondents were 16 years old (55.7%), had good knowledge (75%), practiced a healthy lifestyle (61.1%), and demonstrated good BSE behavior (72.2%). Statistical analysis revealed significant associations between knowledge and BSE behavior (p = 0.000) and between lifestyle and BSE behavior (p = 0.000). These findings highlight the importance of continuous health education to promote early detection practices from adolescence.
