Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Arabic subjects at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of field research and phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation studies with participants consisting of subject teachers, vice principals for curriculum, and students. The validity of the data was examined through source triangulation and triangulation techniques. Data analysis uses Miles and Huberman's interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Arabic language learning at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta has gone well. Learning is carried out flexibly, student-centered, and utilizes digital technology to support the teaching and learning process. Teachers are given the freedom to innovate in the preparation of teaching modules and learning strategies, including through interactive activities such as outing classes and project-based learning. In addition, the school actively held workshops to improve teachers' competence in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum. Supporting factors for the implementation of the Independent Curriculum include the school's readiness as a driving school, support for technology facilities, and continuous teacher training. The inhibiting factors found include the limited adaptation of some students to the independent learning model and challenges in managing learning time. Overall, the Independent Curriculum has a positive impact on increasing students' activeness, creativity, and independence in learning Arabic.
