Abstract
the growing intensity of online gaming among individuals of productive age has been associated with an increased incidence of musculoskeletal disorders, particularly De Quervain Syndrome(DQS), which results from repetitive thumb and wrist activities. Pathophysiologically, DQS involves inflammatory changes in the APL and EPB, highlighting the need for interventions that address pain reduction and functional improvement. Purposes: This study aimed to analyze the effect of combined deep friction massage and kinesio taping on pain intensity and functional ability in online gamers with DQS. Method: the study employed a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group model, involving a total of 52 participans divided into an intervention group a control group. Pain intensity was measured using the NRS, while hand funcyion was assessed with the QuickDASH questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. Results: The findings relealed a statistically significant reduction in pain levels and improvement in functional ability in the intervention group (p < 0.05). In contrast, no significant changes were observed in the control group. Conclusion: The combination of deep friction massage and kinesio taping was effective in reducing pain and improving hand function in online gamers with De Quervain Syndrome.
