Abstract
The high demand for dental treatment through filling techniques often faces challenges related to the strength and resistance of filling materials to chewing loads and variations in the quality of patients' tooth surfaces. This study aims to evaluate the effect of irradiation on the quality of dental fillings, in terms of strength and microstructure. In this study, the experiment began with the creation of hardness and microstructure test specimens. The SEM test used a natural tooth that had been filled, while the Vickers hardness test used a 5x5x5cm block specimen, which had been modeled as a filling to facilitate testing. The specimens were tested unirradiated and after irradiation for 10, 20, and 30 seconds. The results showed that the Vickers hardness of the various irradiation stages increased the strength of the filling, but excessive irradiation resulted in cracking. Meanwhile, the SEM results showed that the microstructure varied at each irradiation stage, with the best microstructure quality being achieved at 30 seconds.
