Abstract
Indramayu Regency is a unique coastal area in West Java with complex characteristics consisting of fish ponds in the north, urban areas in the center, and hills in the south. These differences in environmental conditions form an important basis for analyzing variations in vegetation density and its effect on surface temperature in each zone. Over the past decade, this region has experienced rapid land use changes due to development activities and population growth, which have impacted vegetation changes and increased land surface temperatures. This study aims to analyze the transformation of vegetation density (NDVI) and land surface temperature (LST), and to determine the correlation between the two in Indramayu Regency Indramayu in 2014 and 2024. The data used consists of Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS imagery processed using Google Earth Engine (GEE) to obtain NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and LST (Land Surface Temperature) values. Sampling was conducted using the probability random sampling method with 30 points representing land cover variations. The results of this study were visualized through maps of vegetation density changes (NDVI) for the 2014 and 2024 periods, as well as a map of Land Surface Temperature (LST) for 2024, which were then analyzed using Spearman's Rho correlation. The findings indicate a consistent negative correlation between NDVI and LST in 2014 and 2024, which indicates that the denser the vegetation, the lower the surface temperature of the land in Indramayu Regency. These findings confirm the effectiveness of using GEE in spatial-temporal monitoring of environmental change and the importance of vegetation in controlling temperatures in the Indramayu region.
