Abstract
The use of high heels can alter foot biomechanics and increase pressure on the plantar fascia due to prolonged plantar flexion, thereby increasing the risk of microtrauma and plantar fasciitis. This condition is common among women who stand and walk for long periods, including hospital staff who are required to maintain a professional appearance. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the use of high heels and plantar fasciitis among staff at Mitra Siaga Tegal Hospital. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 31 female staff selected through consecutive sampling. Data on high heel usage were collected using questionnaires, while plantar fasciitis was assessed using the Windlass Test and Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between the use of high heels and plantar fasciitis (p = 0.002). In conclusion, the use of high heels is significantly associated with the occurrence of plantar fasciitis among staff at Mitra Siaga Tegal Hospital, indicating that the selection of ergonomic footwear is important for preventing foot health disorders.
