Abstract

Environmental pollution from onggok (palm sugar) waste is a serious problem that directly impacts environmental quality and community life. One such pollution case occurred in Bendo Village, Tulung District, Klaten Regency, caused by the palm sugar processing industry's discharge of liquid and solid waste without adequate treatment. This condition resulted in irrigation water pollution, blocked water channels, and a decline in the environmental quality of the surrounding community. This study aims to determine how environmental law enforcement is implemented in the onggok waste pollution case in Bendo Village and to analyze the form of legal protection obtained by victims of this environmental pollution. The research method used is empirical juridical with a sociological juridical approach, namely 2 by examining applicable legal provisions and connecting them to real conditions in the community. Data were obtained through interviews with village officials, affected communities, and business actors, and supported by a literature review of laws and environmental law literature. The results of the study indicate that environmental law enforcement in Bendo Village has not been running optimally because it is still persuasive and administrative without being accompanied by firm legal sanctions. Furthermore, legal protection for pollution victims has not been fully met, particularly regarding the right to a good and healthy environment, the right to information, and access to justice.
