Abstract
The increasing public awareness of healthy lifestyles, along with the rapid digitalization in the fitness sector—particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic—highlights the need for technological innovation in exercise management systems. This study aims to develop a web-based Fitness Training Scheduling Expert System that applies the forward chaining algorithm as an intelligent solution to assist users in organizing workout schedules that align with their physical condition, fitness goals, and time availability. The system was developed using the Waterfall method, which consists of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance phases. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews with personal trainers and gym members to ensure accurate identification of system requirements. The implementation utilized PHP with the Laravel framework, MySQL as the database management system, and Bootstrap to create an interactive, responsive, and user-friendly interface. System testing was conducted using the Black Box Testing method by applying various input scenarios, such as age, body weight, and training objectives, to validate the accuracy of the generated recommendations. The results indicate that the system operates effectively, produces training schedules that match user profiles, and provides convenient access through a web-based platform. Overall, this study is expected to offer practical benefits in supporting digital fitness management while expanding the application of the forward chaining algorithm in the fitness domain, which remains relatively underexplored.
