Abstract
Purwodadi Subdistrict, the capital of Grobogan Regency, has significant potential in the horticultural sector, particularly in melon and watermelon production. According to the Central Statistics Agency in 2023, melon production reached 446,000 kilograms, while watermelon production reached 7.71 million kilograms. However, this potential has not been optimally utilized as an agrotourism attraction. This study aims to design an agrotourism area for melon and watermelon that functions not only as a production site but also as a means for education, recreation, and local community empowerment. The approach applied is bioclimatic architecture, a design strategy that adapts buildings to local climatic conditions to achieve thermal comfort, energy efficiency, and harmony with the surrounding environment. The limitations of conventional farming systems restrict melon and watermelon crops to a single harvest per year. To overcome this, an Integrated Farming System is implemented to increase productivity and ensure year-round harvest continuity. The research methods include literature review, field observation, comparative study, and data analysis and synthesis to formulate design strategies adaptive to Purwodadi’s tropical climate. The research outcome is a thematic agrotourism design that integrates agricultural production, educational tourism, recreation, and environmental conservation. The application of bioclimatic architectural principles is expected to create sustainable, environmentally friendly agrotourism that reflects Purwodadi’s agrarian identity and enhances both the economic and educational value of local horticulture.
