Abstract
Introduction:. Upper trapezius muscle stiffness is caused by prolonged non-ergonomic work postures and repetitive movements. This complaint is often experienced by teachers, especially teachers at special needs schools. This condition can trigger Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome (MTrPs), which reduces muscle flexibility. Objective: This study aims to describe changes in upper trapezius muscle flexibility after manual therapy intervention. Method: Quantitative study with a descriptive analysis design. The sample consisted of SLB teachers with inclusion criteria, totaling 8 samples. The treatment group was given cervical traction and manipulation therapy using the high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) technique, while the control group was given friction massage and passive stretching. Flexibility was measured using a goniometer before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed descriptively using mean values and standard deviations to observe changes. Results: Descriptive analysis showed changes in the mean values of flexibility in all directions of movement. The greatest change was observed in dextra rotation, with a difference of 20°. Conclusion: Descriptive analysis showed a tendency for increased flexibility of the upper trapezius muscle after manual therapy.
