Abstract
Background: Anxiety is a crucial problem often experienced by patients in the Care Unit Installation. This condition can result in slower patient recovery and reduce the quality of care received. Objective: This study was to determine the relationship between self- efficacy and anxiety in patients in the Care Unit Installation of Dr. Moewardi Regional Hospital. Method: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach to 70 respondents selected through a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable in this study was self-efficacy, while the dependent variable was anxiety. The research instruments used were the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaires to measure the level of patient anxiety. with data analysis using the Chi-Square test. Results: The study showed a relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in patients in the Care Unit Installation of Dr. Moewardi Regional Hospital with a p-value = 0.001 (p <0.05). Patients with low levels of self- efficacy tend to have higher levels of anxiety than those with high self-efficacy. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the emphasis on self-efficacy as a psychological adaptation mechanism for HCU patients who receive anxiety management education, as well as being the basis for nursing strategies to support optimal healing. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that self-efficacy has an important role in influencing the level of anxiety of patients during intensive care, so that increasing patient self-efficacy needs to be a concern in nursing care efforts to support the optimal recovery process.
