Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of Buy Now PayLater (BNPL) services, which have grown rapidly as a digital financing innovation in Indonesia. Despite offering transactional convenience, the BNPL mechanism has sparked debates regarding Sharia aspects, particularly concerning the potential for usury (riba) and elements of uncertainty (gharar). The objective of this study is to analyze BNPL practices through the lens of Muhammadiyah's Manhaj Tarjih to provide legal certainty for the Muslim community. The method employed is qualitative with a normative-juridical approach. The results indicate that the use of BNPL is permissible as long as the underlying contracts are free from interest-based usury and excessive penalties. The affirmation of the Manhaj Tarjih position is expected to serve as an ethical guide in modern digital consumption.
