Abstract
In the context of higher education, numerous studies have reported high levels of academic procrastination among university students, with approximately 70% to 90% engaging in procrastinatory behaviors. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, one of which is the use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and short-video-based social media platforms like TikTok. This study aims to examine the level of ChatGPT and TikTok usage and to analyze their influence on academic procrastination among students of the KH. Mas Mansur Student Islamic Boarding School, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This research employed a quantitative paradigm with a field research design and a multiple linear regression approach. The research population consisted of 261 students, from which a sample of 158 students was selected using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through observation, questionnaire distribution using simple random sampling techniques, and documentation. Data validity and reliability were tested prior to analysis, while data analysis included classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression using SPSS version 26. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the F-test (simultaneous test) and the coefficient of determination (R²). The results indicate that the use of ChatGPT and TikTok has a significant influence on academic procrastination, as evidenced by the F-test results showing a significance value of less than 0.05. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.118 suggests that the combined use of ChatGPT and TikTok accounts for 11.8% of the variance in academic procrastination among students, thereby supporting the research hypothesis. This study may be further developed by employing more diverse and precise measurement instruments and by considering additional factors that may influence academic procrastination.
