Abstract

One of the fundamental problems in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education (Budi Pekerti) learning is the gap between the theoretical knowledge obtained or learned by students and its application in their daily lives. Facing the complex problems of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education (Budi Pekerti) learning requires an innovative and comprehensive learning model, but in reality, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Education (Budi Pekerti) learning in schools still uses conventional, teacher-centered learning and still lacks active student involvement. Therefore, the application of innovative and contextual learning models is needed to improve the quality of learning, one of which is through the training model: design, demonstration, practice and Feedback. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the training model: design, demonstration, practice and Feedback to improve noble character and student learning achievement. This study uses a mixed method approach that combines classroom action research (CAR) and quasi-experiments. The research subjects were 96 seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 in Klaten Regency in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection in this study used student noble character observation sheets, learning achievement tests and documentation. The PTK analysis used the average, inter-cycle improvement, and test-retest analysis. The experimental analysis used the Wilcoxon test, the Mann–Whitney U test, and the Gain test. The results of this study indicate that the application of the training model: design, demonstration, practice, and Feedback can improve students' noble character and can be effective in improving student learning achievement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character Building subjects for grade VII of SMPN 2 in Klaten Regency
