Abstract

Asthma is a serious health problem worldwide because it affects around 300 million people of all ages. Asthma causes the respiratory tract to become swollen or narrowed. This study aims to determine the relationship between Self-Efficacy and asthma relapse prevention behavior in asthma sufferers. This study applies a quantitative research method, using a correlational design with a Cross Sectional approach. Data were collected through observational studies through surveys. The instruments used were the GSES (General Self-Efficacy Scale) instrument consisting of 10 items and an asthma relapse prevention behavior instrument consisting of 9 items. The number of samples obtained was 82 respondents from calculations using power analysis with G*Power software. Data analysis used a frequency distribution test for univariate data and a nonparametric Spearman rank test for bivariate data. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed a p-value = 0.001, which is below the 0.05 limit. Thus, there is a relationship between self-efficacy and asthma relapse prevention behavior in asthma patients at UNS Hospital. The higher the self-efficacy, the higher the level of asthma relapse prevention behavior in asthma patients.
