Abstract
Animal feed quality plays a crucial role in supporting livestock health and productivity, as well as the sustainability of the livestock sector. KJUB Puspetasari, a livestock feed producer, continues to face product quality issues, particularly related to clumpy texture, unpleasant odor, and substandard color. These conditions have the potential to reduce consumer confidence and the company's competitiveness. This study aims to identify product defects, analyze the causes of these defects, and formulate improvement proposals to enhance animal feed quality. The Six Sigma method used is the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach combined with the Kaizen Five-M Checklist during the improvement phase. Data were obtained through direct observation, interviews, and documentation of production data and product defect data for eight weeks. The analysis results show that the average DPMO value is 34,081 with a sigma level of 3.35, indicating that the production process is still at the industry average quality level and requires continuous improvement. Pareto analysis and Fishbone diagrams indicate that product defects are influenced by human factors, machines, methods, materials, and the work environment. The proposed improvements focus on increasing compliance with standard operating procedures, raw material monitoring, machine maintenance, and improving work methods and the production environment. Implementing these improvements is expected to reduce product defects and sustainably improve animal feed quality.
