Abstract
Feeding is one of the important factors in the success of milkfish (Chanos chanos) aquaculture, but in practice, it is still often done manually, making it inefficient in terms of time, labor, and accuracy of feed quantity. Additionally, the remote location of ponds from the PLN electricity grid poses a challenge in implementing automated systems. The aim of this research is to develop and implement an automatic fish feeding system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using energy from an off-grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS). The main controller uses ESP32, Real Time Clock (RTC) DS3231 as a feed schedule regulator, ultrasonic sensor as a feed capacity detector, and DC motor and servo motor as feed spreading actuators. The PLTS circuit consists of a solar panel or PV, solar charge controller (SCC), battery, inverter, and PZEM-017 sensor for monitoring voltage and current. System control and monitoring are carried out in real-time through the RemoteXY application. The test results show that the PLTS system can provide sufficient power supply, although its performance is influenced by sunlight intensity. The highest light intensity value obtained during testing was 8,761 lux, coinciding with the highest voltage and current values of 41.5 V and 1.24 A, respectively. The Real Time Clock (RTC) testing showed a very small time difference compared to actual time, about 21–23 seconds, with an error percentage of less than 0.1%. The ultrasonic sensor also showed good accuracy, indicated by measurement error values still within tolerance limits. Based on these results, the IoT-based automatic fish feeding system with PLTS energy source can work well and is feasible to be implemented as an efficient and energy-independent feeding solution for fish ponds.
