Abstract
The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) provides significant opportunities for creating more efficient health monitoring systems, one of which is intravenous (IV) fluid monitoring. This research aims to design and implement an IoT-based IV infusion monitoring system using the ESP32 microcontroller, integrated with various sensors and actuators. An optocoupler sensor is employed to detect the drip rate in drops per minute (TPM) in real time, while a load cell sensor is used to measure the volume of IV fluid. A servo motor regulates the drip rate according to the specified target, with an automatic correction mechanism activated when significant deviations occur. In addition, a buzzer is incorporated as an alarm when the remaining volume falls below 5 mL, and the system is connected to a Telegram application to deliver condition reports manually or automatically to medical staff. Experimental results show that the optocoupler sensor achieved an average accuracy above 90%, while the load cell reached around 95%. The servo motor successfully controlled the drip rate with an average deviation of 5.99% and a stabilization time of 7.16 seconds. The buzzer operated as intended, producing a five-second warning sound when the IV volume approached depletion. Overall, the proposed system effectively enables real-time monitoring and control of IV fluids with high accuracy, helping medical staff prevent delays in IV replacement and improving the quality of healthcare services.
