Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology in Indonesia has had a significant impact on society, but behind this progress lies a serious threat in the form of cybercrime, one example of which is online gambling. This study discusses the role of the Surakarta Resort Police in preventive measures against online gambling crimes, the role of the police in repressive measures against online gambling crimes, and Islamic views on online gambling. The method used is an empirical legal approach, which involves examining applicable laws and then linking them to practices in the field through interviews. Research has found that in dealing with online gambling crimes, the police take repressive and preventive measures. Preventive measures include online and offline outreach and collaboration with the government and providers. Meanwhile, repressive measures include blocking accounts, arresting perpetrators, and imposing penalties on perpetrators. In addition, this study found that the Surakarta Resort Police faced obstacles such as the use of fake identities and account numbers, as well as websites managed from overseas.
