Abstract
The research is about Interrogative Utterances in English Translation of Koran Section 29 by Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din and Muhammad Muhsin. The aims of the research are to describe the types of Interrogative Utterances and to describe the intentions of the Interrogative Utterances. The type of the research is descriptive qualitative research. The method of collecting data is documentation in collecting the data from English Translation of Koran Section 29, reading and indicating the English translation of Koran, especially some chapter of section 29, signing the interrogative utterances uttered by God in the English translation of Koran, collecting the data of interrogative utterances and other elements relating with interrogative utterances, and coding the data to make easy in analyzing. In analyzing the types, the researcher refers to follow the types of interrogative form in English Grammar. Meanwhile, in analyzing the intentions, the researcher employs the Speech Act theory especially locution and Illocution. The result of study shows the variety of the types and intentions of interrogative utterances in English Translation of Koran Section 29 by Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din and Muhammad Muhsin. First, the types of Interrogative Utterances Categorized into yes-no question, wh for question and interrogatives question may use the same form and syntactic order as does as a statement sentence but change the intonation from falling a rising curve at the end to make it a question. Second, the types of yes-no question of Interrogative Utterances categorized into positive question and negative question, and wh for question categorized into how, who, what, where, and when. The last one is intentions of the study cover implied meanings of reminding, informing, warning and clarifying
