Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and career planning, and to determine the differences in career planning between the types of education of high school and vocational high school students. The type of research method is quantitative with a correlation approach to determine the relationship between variables and a comparative approach to determine the differences between variables. Sampling in this study used a cluster random sampling technique with a sample of 10 classes, with details of 5 grades 11 vocational high school majoring in accounting and 5 grades 11 high school. The data collection instrument used a family support scale and a career planning scale. Data analysis techniques used a normality test, prerequisite test and, independent sample t-test, and product moment correlation test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant positive relationship between family support and career planning in vocational high school and high school students (0.352). There was no significant difference in career planning between vocational high school students. The implication of the results of this study is that the role of the family in supporting student career planning needs to be developed by schools with career guidance programs based on the type of education of each student.
