Abstract
This study aims to identify and understand how Generation Z football fans manage their emotions, both when watching matches live and through social media platforms. This study used a qualitative method through semi-structured interviews with three respondents. Subjects were selected using purposive sampling techniques according to predetermined criteria. Data were analyzed using Miles & Huberman content analysis techniques. Data validity was strengthened by member checking. The results of this study indicate that emotional regulation among Generation Z supporters varies. When their favorite team wins, fans are very enthusiastic and happy. However, when the team loses, they often exhibit negative reactions such as shouting, using foul language, and criticizing the players on social media. Some fans can control their emotions through simple methods such as remaining silent, staying away from crowds, and reducing social media use. Support from friends, family, and the community is crucial in shaping fans' behavior. Managing emotions well can help reduce conflict, maintain good social relationships, and make us wiser in dealing with difficult situations. The conclusion of this study is that emotional regulation plays an important role in shaping the behavior and interactions of Generation Z football supporters, both when facing victory and defeat. The implications of this research are expected to provide new insights for Generation Z and professionals about the importance of emotional regulation in improving the well-being of football fans.
