Abstract
This study aims to investigate the role of zakat in reducing divorce rates due to economic factors in Bandung Regency and to analyze the management of zakat distribution, to provide zakat assistance to families on the verge of divorce. The research model is a descriptive, qualitative study with a field research method. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with six informants, namely: one judge from the Bandung Regency Religious Court; three employees of The National Zakat Management Agency in Bandung Regency, consisting of the Head of Financial Planning and Humanitarian Reporting, the Head of Associations, and the Head of Distribution and Utilization; one Special Distribution Program Staff member in the field of Education and Humanitarian Affairs at the Islamic Union Zakat Agency; and one Community Service Supervisor in the Economic and Social Empowerment Division at the Dompet Dhuafa Zakat Agency. Data obtained from sources indicates that there were four families on the verge of divorce due to economic factors, three of which were saved by zakat assistance in the form of productive, consumptive, and debt settlement (Ga>rimi>n). Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from official documents of the religious court, the National Zakat Management Agency in Bandung Regency, West Java zakat institutions, reputable national and international journals, and other relevant religious literature. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that zakat plays a very important role in reducing the divorce rate due to economic factors in Bandung Regency through consumptive zakat programs to meet basic family needs. Through productive zakat programs, families can promote their economic independence, thereby reducing internal conflicts that cause divorce. Zakat management to help families on the verge of divorce is carried out through the utilization of zakat collection units at the sub-district and village levels, which have the authority to recommend zakat recipients in collaboration with the Office of Religious Affairs and religious counselors in identifying families on the verge of divorce due to economic factors.
