Abstract

Irrigation technology plays a crucial role in distributing water to support food security; however, in the Brajan Irrigation Area, Boyolali Regency, issues have been identified regarding reduced water supply in tertiary channels. This study analyzes water loss in the irrigation system of the Brajan Irrigation Area, focusing on Secondary Channel 1, Tertiary Channel 1, and Tertiary Channel 2. Measurements were conducted using two methods—Mean Area and Mid Section—to obtain comprehensive data. The results showed varying water loss values across the channels, with Secondary Channel 1 experiencing water losses of 0.09478 m³/s (Mean Area) and 0.09329 m³/s (Mid Section). For Tertiary Channels 1 and 2, water losses were 0.04814 m³/s and 0.04424 m³/s (Mean Area), and 0.04935 m³/s and 0.03912 m³/s (Mid Section), respectively. System efficiency values ranged from 65.88% to 80.56%, with the Mid Section method consistently yielding higher efficiency than the Mean Area method. In addition, seepage values were measured at 0.00308 m³/s (Secondary 1), 0.00215 m³/s (Tertiary 1), and 0.00176 m³/s (Tertiary 2). These findings indicate the potential for physical leakage along the irrigation channels, which should be prioritized in efforts to improve system efficiency.
