Abstract

The development of science and technology in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era has had a major influence on various aspects of life, including education. Education no longer only functions as a means of transferring knowledge, but also as a forum for character formation, critical thinking skills, and readiness to face the challenges of the times. This study aims to examine in depth the concept of education according to the thoughts of KH. Ahmad Dahlan, especially in the context of Islamic values and modernity, and its relevance to the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The research method used is a qualitative approach with content analysis techniques on the written works of KH. Ahmad Dahlan, especially the manuscript "Tali Pengikat Hidup Manusia", which was studied as a primary data source. The results of the study show that KH. Ahmad Dahlan emphasized the importance of science as a way of life and the basis of human civilization, with an emphasis on the integration of religious values and rationality. In the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, his thoughts remain relevant, because they demand adaptive, innovative education, and are rooted in spiritual values. In conclusion, the educational thoughts of KH. Ahmad Dahlan can be used as a basis for building an education model that is not only technologically modern, but also morally and spiritually strong.
