Abstract
This research aimed to analyze land use changes resulting from the presence of the Nganjuk Industrial Area between 2016 and 2024. The main issue addressed was the increase in the conversion of undeveloped land into built-up areas surrounding the industrial zone. The research employed satellite imagery analysis (Landsat), supervised classification, and spatial overlay techniques using geographic information system tools. A buffer zone of 2.27 km was applied to assess the direct spatial impact of industrial activity on land use transformation. The results showed a significant increase of 2,706 hectares in built-up areas within the buffer zone, representing approximately 27% growth from the initial condition, while undeveloped land declined considerably. Industrial zones with large-scale production and high accessibility exerted a more substantial influence on land conversion. These findings indicated that industrial areas acted as growth poles, promoting directed expansion of built-up land. The study underlined the importance of implementing spatially based land use policies to ensure that industrial development is managed sustainably without compromising the ecological functions of the land.
