Abstract
Student Area facilities are a crucial element in supporting students' academic and social activities on campus. The Student Area in Building F of the Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, is currently considered to have several shortcomings, such as uncomfortable desk and chair designs, limited sanitation facilities such as trash cans and sinks, and the lack of evenly distributed electrical installations for charging electronic devices. These conditions can reduce student comfort and efficiency when using these facilities. Therefore, this study aims to propose improvements to Student Area facilities through user-oriented redesign. The method used in this study is Quality Function Deployment (QFD), with the initial stage being the identification of student needs as the primary users, which are then translated into technical specifications through the development of a House of Quality (HoQ). Data was obtained through questionnaires distributed to students across study programs and direct observation of facility conditions in the field. The final result of this study is a Student Area facility design based on the wishes of student users. This is expected to improve student comfort, safety, and productivity in carrying out academic and non-academic activities in Building F of the Faculty of Engineering, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta.
