Abstract

Kudus Regency is located on the Pantura transportation route in Central Java and has the largest cigarette factory in Central Java. Due to its strategic location, significant urban development has caused an increase in built-up land. The growth of built-up land indicates an increase in overall temperature which affects urban conditions and urban ecology. The Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon in Kudus Regency has become an important issue in the context of climate change and its impact on local ecosystems. The data used in this study came from Landsat 8 imagery data collection 1 Tier 2 ToA Reflectance accessed from Google Earth Engine. This study aims to 1. Analyze the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of vegetation density and built-up land in Kudus Regency 2. Analyze the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon in Kudus Regency 3. Analyze the urban ecological conditions in Kudus Regency, which are influenced by changes in vegetation density, built-up land, and the UHI phenomenon. The results of the study indicate that the spatial relationship between the North and South of Kudus Regency causes almost all of its areas to be classified as affected areas. In addition, the Kudus Regency area is the city center where all economic activities, education centers, and government service centers in Kudus Regency are concentrated. The correlation between the evaluation of urban ecological conditions in terms of land surface temperature based on UTFVI values shows the same pattern.
