Abstract
The development of technology and the interest of the community in sports and cultural preservation must be taken into account. As the successors of the nation, local spirit must continue to grow and develop. Considering the lack of interest among the Ngawi community in terms of sports and culture, a solution for both needs must be provided. With the planning of the Sports and Cultural Center in Ngawi, it is hoped to become an answer for the Ngawi community in engaging in sports and getting to know culture, accompanied by advances in technology and an attractive architectural concept aimed at achieving community comfort and safety. Ngawi Regency is one of the regency areas located in the western part of East Java. The Ngawi area borders directly with Central Java. Ngawi covers an area of 1,298.58 km². This planning concept is the first stage in designing the building. The building referred to can be either a standalone structure or a complex. The characteristic of each design is unique, that is, to design thoroughly while considering the site conditions. This means that one site differs from another. If the design is made by ignoring the surrounding conditions, the result may become misaligned. Therefore, a mature design that considers the site conditions is necessary. This idea is required to achieve the Ngawi Sports and Cultural Center that aligns with the plan, so that the building designed is appropriate in terms of function and aesthetics. There are seven principles of modern architecture: structural integrity, expressive and dynamic composition, open floor plans, natural light flowing in through a permeable facade, authentic comfort, and exploring landscape elements within structured areas. Of the seven principles, there are five principles that will be used in designing the Ngawi Sports and Cultural Center, which are: Strong Building, Expressive and Dynamic Composition, Open Space Concept, Having a Transparent Facade, and True Comfort. These five principles are adapted to the conditions of the land, particularly with a strong structure, expressive and lively arrangement, the idea of open areas, clear exterior, and genuine comfort.
