Abstract

The need for comfort in places of worship, especially during prayer times, highlights the importance of an efficient environmental control system. This study aims to develop an air conditioner (AC) control system at Baitussyukur Mosque based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology to improve energy efficiency and enhance worshipper comfort. The system is designed to automatically turn on the AC 10 minutes before prayer time and turn it off 10 minutes after the prayer ends, maintaining an optimal room temperature during worship. In addition to automated scheduling, the system is also equipped with manual control features via a smartphone using the Blynk application, providing extra flexibility when the AC needs to be activated outside the preset schedule. The research methods include literature review, system design and development using the ESP8266 microcontroller, collecting prayer time data based on the local schedule, and testing the accuracy and responsiveness of the control system. The integration of IoT technology enables real-time remote monitoring and control, contributing to more efficient electricity usage. Test results show that the system operates well according to the prayer schedule and can be manually controlled without issues. Therefore, this IoT-based AC automation system offers a practical and scalable solution for mosque energy management, as it combines efficiency, comfort, and modern control technology. Furthermore, the system can be enhanced with additional features such as temperature sensors or integration with cloud-based prayer schedules.
