Abstract

Burnout among medical personnel is a critical issue due to its impact on mental health, job performance, and healthcare service quality. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and workload on burnout among medical personnel at X Hospital Boyolali. A quantitative correlational approach was used with a population study design involving 110 respondents from various medical professions. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires, including the burnout scale (Maslach & Leiter, 2022), self-efficacy scale (Bandura, 1997), and workload scale (Munandar, 2001). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results revealed that self-efficacy and workload simultaneously had a significant effect on burnout (p < 0.001), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.524. This indicates that 52.4% of the variance in burnout is explained by these two variables. Partially, self-efficacy was negatively correlated with burnout (r = –0.539), while workload had a positive correlation (r = 0.651). The strength aspect of self-efficacy contributed the most (26.59%), followed by the qualitative aspect of workload (21.29%). These findings highlight that psychological resilience and perceptions of task complexity are key factors influencing burnout. Therefore, enhancing self-efficacy and managing workload proportionally are recommended as preventive strategies to support the well-being of medical personnel.
