Abstract

Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo adopted the Aerotropolis concept in its development and experienced significant growth in passenger numbers. This phenomenon drives the need for accommodation facilities that can serve airport users practically and quickly. A transit hotel is an appropriate accommodation solution proposed to answer this challenge. The design objective is to create a 3-star transit hotel that not only meets the basic needs of accommodation, but also optimizes energy efficiency through the application of bioclimatic architecture. The main issue raised is how to design a comfortable and efficient transit hotel in a tropical climate with high temperatures, without fully relying on artificial energy. The design concept refers to the principles of bioclimatic architecture, including strategic placement of the building core, proper orientation, natural ventilation, use of shading elements, and integration of environmentally friendly landscapes. The design process starts from needs analysis, case studies, to design development that is adapted to local climatic conditions and user characteristics. The design result is a 3-star transit hotel concept that emphasizes environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and user comfort. This design is expected to meet the needs of the YIA area as a center of activity and high mobility.
