Abstract

Changes in people's consumption patterns due to advances in digital technology have caused conventional shopping centers to decline in relevance. Ngawi City as a developing city with strong tourism and cultural potential requires a shopping center that is able to adapt to changes in public consumption trends. There is still no mall or shopping center in Ngawi City. Ngawi people often have to travel to other cities to access mall facilities or complete shopping and entertainment centers. The design of Lifestyle center with the concept of Open air Mall in Ngawi City is presented as an alternative solution with a contextual approach that considers aspects of tropical climate, local culture, and the needs of social and recreational space for the community. The concept of Open air Mall is chosen to support thermal comfort through natural lighting and ventilation, and provide green open space. The contextual approach was applied to create a building that is harmonious with the physical and socio cultural environment, and reflects the local identity of Ngawi. The project aims to accommodate the social, economic and cultural activities of the community through facilities such as restaurants, beauty facilities, fitness facilities, entertainment facilities, green open spaces, as well as a place for cultural activities. The design is expected to create an activity center that is not only a place to shop, but also a lifestyle destination that is relevant, sustainable, and able to encourage economic growth and the quality of Ngawi City's public spaces.
